Sanasar, an awe-inspiring place situated about 17 kms away from Patnitop is one of the favourite picnic destinations of Jammuities. The place got its name from the two lakes which are present in the vicinity i.e., ‘Sana’ & ‘Sar’. In addition to being a popular picnic destination, this place is famous for adventure sports as well. The summer temperature at this place lies between 10-20 degrees Celsius thus provides an ambience conducive for adventure sports.

This beautiful place is situated at an altitude of 2050 metres above sea level. The area is surrounded by natural forests and meadows. It is a paradise for sports lovers. And Sanasar is known as the aero-adventure-sports capital of the Jammu region as the place is branded as adventure hub. Adventure sports like rock-climbing, Abseiling, Paragliding, Parasailing and Hot-air ballooning etc. options are available at Sanasar.

Sanasar is also known as ‘mini Gulmarg’ of Jammu as it provides a great spot for both summer and winter adventurous activities. One can even call this place as adventurist’s paradise. The scenic beauty of Sanasar is enhanced by its cup-shaped green meadow which is covered by soaring Cedars which gives an amazing visual experience of nature to the visitors.

In order to promote ‘Sanasar’ as the sports destination, they have also built up a Golf Course open for tourists to try their hand at it. People who want to indulge in adventure sports can try out Sanasar for excitement and enjoyment.

Extreme Sports

Under this category, one can try out sports which involve high level of danger, height, speed, depth, and other uncontrollable environmental aspects. Basically, people interests in extremities can choose this option but for that they require a certain level of training before embarking upon them.

Different kinds of sports activities can be chosen as per one’s choice. Water sports category offers free-diving, scuba-diving, jet-skiing, snorkelling. Land sports offer cliff-climbing, skate-boarding, extreme-skiing and car-racing, whereas air sports offers bungee jumping, paragliding, and sky-diving.

Two main sports activities famous in Sanasar includes Paragliding and Hot air Ballooning.

The former is a ‘free-style’ flying sport while the latter a new-found craze among tourists. Hot air Ballooning has become a recreational sport where one gets to enjoy an aerial view of the area being traversed. People love to get clicked which hot air ballooning. Camping has also been introduced at Sanasar which is widely promoted by the J&K Tourism Department.
